Men’s Wear Is Hard, Y’all…

Maybe because you need to be a tailor…duh! None of the outfits were that great IMO. But then they had to appeal to one of the most boring Black men ever…Tiki Barber. The biggest laugh for me was that the self-proclaimed “straight” designer made the gayest looking ensemble…all lavender and stuff. Ha!

jack.png 1135989887_m.jpg Is it any wonder that Jack won this challenge, as his past experiance is all about men’s wear. That being said his pants and shirt were not all that. But Tiki liked it, yawn. And besides Jack is such a hottie, I was glad he won.

carmen.png As for the loser of the night Carmen. Well, I guess having no shirt at all was worse then a really poorly made one. Besides I never understood her statement about how having been a model gave her an edge over the other designers. Maybe to style it but not to construct it. Oh well she still has the Sistahs.

Over all this wasn’t that interesting an episode. And didn’t really seem to be a very fair challenge for the designers. But thank you Bravo producers for all the fine male models and the camera shots in their underwear. Good job!

I love the dark but colorful eyes with the streaks of white in the hair…
very inspired by Sweeney Todd the new movie with Johnny Depp.

1968_2.gif Samantha Jones is an amazing face from the 60’s. She was in a series of ads for a line called Moondrops by Revlon (top two photos). They remain one of my favorite campaigns because of the innovative photography by either Avedon or Hiro, and of course that face! I do know that Avedon and Penn both shot her all the time for Vogue and Bazaar. And I’ll never forget the “before and after” story Sam did for Cosmopolitan magazine. It was a step by step makeup demo of just how she created her look. I studied that article with great fascination. Sam had pretty much retired by the mid to late 70’s, and opened a chic lingerie boutique on New York’s upper east side. Fortunately I had the opportunity to make her up once, for a test shoot she did as a favor to the photographer. I was thrilled to paint that still incredible face. And I remember she had grown her hair really long, very hippie earth mother, and wore it in a long braid down her back. OMG, I just realized Samantha must have been the name inspiration for the character on Sex In The City! I think the name is the only thing they have in common though.
