Staying in the Now…

“Today, be aware of the power of your mind. Give it your focus and consciously direct it. It will run away on its own, of course, but your goal is simply to redirect it back to the ways you wish to think and be.
And today, that primary focus is two-fold: present moment awareness and prioritization.
Today, your goal is to pull yourself back into now, over and over, whenever you find your mind drifting to thoughts of the past or worries or daydreams of the future; come back into now, this very moment, and once here, focus on the most important things that you need to accomplish, do and be right now.
So first, let us set those priorities. Today, do what is most important for you. If it is breaking a pattern of behavior, then this must be your highest priority, bar none. Every moment of every day, bring yourself back into now, erase any feelings of victimization, fear or doubt, and come into a peaceful center, a place where you can fully shine and be. And in this place, consciously choose how to act. And if the most important thing for you to do right now is to accomplish something difficult in your life, an action you must take, then let us simply face it today. Today, banish doubt from your mind and simply do it. Begin to climb that mountain. Begin to walk that long path. Begin and then follow through on doing that thing you know you must do but are dreading or avoiding. Simply do it. And every moment keep coming back to it and keeping your focus clear and direct.
In either case, either the rewiring of your brain and body for new patterns or the accomplishment of difficult things, know that time will pass, and if you bring yourself into now and do what you need to do, then time will work for you, and months and years down the line, you will look back at today and see it shine. This was the day that you took it on, that you decided you were strong enough, capable enough, clear enough, and you did it. You began the work.
Make today that day. Yes, you will encounter difficulties, perhaps even enormous obstacles. Yes, you will have missteps and mistakes. But you are strong, capable, creative and resourceful, and just beginning is half of the battle won. Once you set your intention and commitment and begin, the rest is simply responding to the challenges as they arise. And this you can do. For you have within you everything you need. And you are also surrounded by love and help, there for you whenever you come down into the present moment, into that center of peace, and ask for help and guidance. It will come”. Richard Sharah…

RICHARD SHARAH was a make-up artist who, during his career made up a wide cross-section of famous faces, from Zandra Rhodes, Jerry Hall , Marie Helvin and Faye Dunaway, to the late Bing Crosby, Betty Ford and rock stars such a David Bowie, Dire Straits, Sting, Marvin Gaye and Steve Strange.
He was originally from Australia, where he studied fine arts, worked for Revlon and turned freelance, becoming involved in films ( Roger Vadim’s “Night Games” for example ) television and commercials. But Richard felt it was all too tame and conservative and so in 1973 came to London, where he met photographer David Bailey. “From then on work flooded in . One minute I had nothing and the next I had almost too much to cope with”.
He preferred making up women to men: “You can use ther face as a canvas to paint and design on, while most men just have very basic, natural make-up to cover up those little spots and pimples. Except people like Steve Strange and David Bowie, of course. “Bowie came to me and said he wanted a pierrot look, and let me design from there. Most of the time I draw up some ideas and then work with the subject around those – expept with Zandra , who gives me a piece of fabric from a collection, or say a new garment, and then I design a look to go with it. I take from her designs and transfer it onto ther face, so you get a continual theme, But a lot of the time you’re restricted by things out of your control, In advertising, for example, you have to use certain cosmetics and in high fashion at the moment you can’t really do too much because they’e all gone very natural, as you can see just by looking at magazines like Vogue”.
