GUY BOURDIN one of the great photographers of the 70’s and 80’s (he died in 1991) and is still a big influence today (Madonna was inspired by him for her “Hollywood” video). Best known for his work for FRENCH VOGUE and the shoe company CHARLES JOURDAN. Guy had a macabre fascination with death and alienation and his photos usually portrayed this in a surrealistic manner. In 1976 he was hired to photograph a lingerie catalog for BLOOMINGDALES that was the talk of New York (in the photo above is one of the models he booked Debbie Dickinson (center), sister of Janice). Guy was a perfectionist when it came to hair and makeup and could be very demanding of the models too. He presented fashion more as an accessory to the story he was telling rather than the subject.
